Dufrane Nuclear Shielding, Inc. (DNSI) provided the design, fabrication and supply of Plant Farley’s spent Filter Handling System. The design concept is similar to systems previously provided to the  Plant Vogtle Plant and San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). DNSI also provided individual shields and mock-up components for training purposes. DNSI worked closely with Plant Farley personnel to obtain design inputs such as drawings and information on the Spent Filter to be handled and the cross section through the Filter Cubicle Floor Hatch. The system safely handles spent filters throughout all change out operations and has hand-operated tooling with option of solenoid driven grapple.
